Sir Hugh Casson KCVO, RA, RIBA (1910-1999) is probably best remembered as an architect. He was knighted for his work as director of architecture at the Festival of Britain. He was also a distinguished artist, and an influential writer and broadcaster on 20th century design. He was Professor of Environmental Design at the Royal College of Art, and President of the Royal Academy. He illustrated many of his books, and produced many intimate watercolours and drawings.
