Heritage Walks in June and July

Topic: Jam Project

by Stephen James

Guest blogger Pamela McHutchon, London Blue Badge Tourist Guide, writes:

In June and July we continued walking through our local market garden history with two walks in the Twickenham area. One along the riverfront imagining villas past and present with their ornamental and walked kitchen gardens. Kate Robinson showed us around the Model Market Garden where people enjoyed seeing and learning about the heritage varieties growing there. On the second walk we explored the area away from the river where the Poupart family had their farm, shops and Jam Factory ending at Squires Garden Centre with a welcome cup of tea on one of the hottest days of the year!
