"Feeding London" exhibition: the forgotten market gardens of South West London
The "Feeding London" exhibition, co-created by Jam Yesterday Jam Tomorrow volunteers and staff, traces the growth, peak and decline of the production of fruit, vegetables and flowers in the area. It reveals the rapid and radical change of land use arising from London’s ever-growing population, from the desperate need to increase food production in the 1800s, to the demand for housing for the new ‘commuter classes’ in the 20th century.
"Feeding London" is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund.
