Community Interest Company
Many charities now set up CICs as the commercial arm of their operation. We set ours up in 2012 and the only beneficiary is the Environment Trust. So why did we do it?
It gives us scope for involvement in more commercial activities, which sit outside the remit of the Trust. Our objectives include generating more funds for the charity, and passing profits through a gift aid mechanism to the Trust. We provide greater financial protection, through a diversification of business activities and we can tap into a greater range of commercial funding to cope with the expanding needs of the business.
Our principal activities are those of the Trust, but with a more commercial edge. Put simply, we operate to support the vision and mission of the Trust but possibly in ways that the Trust can't do.
